Visit Napoleon's tribute to his Grande Armée and see spectacular views of Paris
The Arc de Triomphe stands at the heart of Paris, offering spectacular panoramic views from its rooftop terrace. This skip-the-line ticket gives you direct access to one of the city's most famous monuments and the chance to see Paris spread out beneath you from 50 metres above the Champs-Élysées.
Commissioned by Napoleon to honour French military victories, the Arc houses informative exhibitions about its history and significance. After exploring the displays on the ground level, climb the 284-step spiral staircase to reach the rooftop terrace. From here, you'll see the Eiffel Tower, the twelve radiating avenues that form the Étoile, and sweeping views across the capital.
Your ticket includes access to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier beneath the arch, where the eternal flame burns in memory of those who died for France. This is a self-guided visit, so you can explore at your own pace and spend as long as you like taking in the views.
The Arc de Triomphe is open daily, and most visitors spend 45-60 minutes exploring the monument and rooftop. Access to the rooftop requires climbing 284 steps - there's no elevator access except for visitors with accessibility requirements.
The best times to visit are early morning for fewer crowds or around sunset for dramatic lighting over Paris. Photography is encouraged, so bring your camera to capture the views. Remember that once you exit, re-entry isn't permitted.
The monument is located at Place Charles de Gaulle, easily reached by Metro lines 1, 2, and 6 to Charles de Gaulle-Étoile station. Use the underground passages to reach the Arc safely - never attempt to cross the busy roundabout at street level.
While you're exploring central Paris, consider combining your visit with other nearby attractions. The Eiffel Tower tickets give you access to the tower visible from the Arc's rooftop, while Louvre Museum tickets let you discover the world's most famous art collection just a short walk down the Champs-Élysées.
Entry is via stair access only (284 steps); no elevator.
Children under 18 and EU citizens under 26 may enter free with valid ID.
Arrive early for fewer crowds, especially at sunset.
No re-entry after exiting the rooftop.
Mind your step on narrow spiral stairs.
Flash photography and drones are prohibited.
Remain behind safety barriers on rooftop.
