Best time to visit

When to fly to London

London is a year-round city. May to September has the longest daylight and the outdoor festivals (Wimbledon, Notting Hill Carnival, the Proms). November to February is quieter and cheaper but expect rain. Avoid the school holidays (late July to August, Christmas week, Easter) if you want lower hotel prices.

Plan ahead: Book theatre tickets 6 to 8 weeks ahead for weekend evening shows; the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey and the Buckingham Palace State Rooms (August to September only) sell out their best slots 2 to 4 weeks ahead in summer.
